Harry Hendricks Obituary

Harry C. Hendricks

August 20, 1930 to April 6, 2020

Harry was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to Harry and Violet Hendricks. He lived for 18 years at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge, a GenCare facility in Renton, WA. He died on April 6, 2020 at the Loving Care Adult Family Home in Kent, WA.

Harry was the youngest of three children and the family lived and worked in Trevorton, Pennsylvania until he graduated from high school. Instead of heading into the coal mines, which was about all the work offered there, he joined the United States Air Force. He traveled around the country during his three years in the Air Force, then joined the Air National Guard.

He would find the love of his life, Nancy Jane Stivers while stationed at Fairchild Airforce Base outside of Spokane, Washington at a USO dance. They would marry in 1952 and eventually move to Seattle where he worked for the Boeing Company for 44 years.

They enjoyed bowling, square dancing and vacationing with their family. Every year was a family vacation whether it was a camping trip to the Olympics or Yellowstone National Park, or one of the big trips to visit the grandparents and family.

They both retired at the age of 62 and began their own journey. They loved Hawaii and Disneyland and went there often.

They were active members of the local Lutheran Church and Harry was a member of the American Legion. He spent countless hours at the VA hospital handing out books and talking with service members. He also spent many hours and many years selling poppies to raise money for the veterans.

Nancy preceded him in death in December of 2011. He leaves behind his children who will miss him so much: Christine Bennett (Thomas), Paul F. Hendricks, Shari Wallace (Mike) and Kathy Cook (Kent). He adored his eight grandchildren: Justin Hendricks, Christopher Wallace, Tyler Hendricks, Michelle McCormick, Brittany Mai, Evan Pearson, John Cook and Briana Bailey.

Nothing made him happier than spending time with his two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Christopher Jr.

A memorial service will be held when possible and a private family internment at Tahoma National Cemetery will follow.

We would like to thank the staff at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge for their excellent care and support for our father over the years. We would also like to thank Adina and George Blendea for their love and care of Harry during his final days. We had comfort knowing dad was being taken care of with loving hands and the grace of God.
