Kenneth Edward Sigel

Ken Sigel had a gentle and youthful spirit that loved to play. He was kind, generous and selfless; accepting, loving and non-judgmental of all.  We loved him so much, but for the last year he had been fighting a difficult battle with glioblastoma and on September 24, Ken died at home surrounded by family.

Ken put his all into everything he did. He was a talented software developer, and he was passionate about his work. Professionally, the achievement that he was most proud of was helping to build Customerville from the ground up. It was his baby, and he worked hard on it. Even when on vacation. He just couldn't stop! Because of his dedication to his work, he gained the trust, respect and admiration of his colleagues and customers. Despite the fact that he had stepped away from daily operational work to focus on treatment just over a year ago, there was hardly a day passed without a customer asking how Ken was doing. Among his coworkers, he was known to be a brilliant problem solver who could make ideas work. His team had an internal communication channel for discussing ideas, dreams and features that would improve products or processes which was called "KEN we do that?" because they knew that he could and would, every time. He had fun with his team, and he encouraged and supported them in their efforts. He was charismatic and charming, but he was absolutely genuine in his love for in his professional circle. 

During those times we actually managed to pull Ken away from his computer, Ken threw himself into living. Ken had a dry sense of humor that he used constantly to make everyone laugh. And oh, he had the BEST smile! It is hard to say whether he smiled more when he was laughing at someone else or at himself, because he felt he was quite hysterical (which he was). Ken loved watching sports, and he would be absolutely furious if we neglected to mention his burning love for his beloved Seahawks. Ken stayed quite active - he loved playing tennis and basketball and was always up for a hand of Texas hold ‘em.

Playing with kids, especially his own three children, was one of his favorite activities of all. He had a warm & infectious laugh that gave those around him a sense of comfort and fun. He was mischievous at times, and no one was safe if there was a nerf gun in arms reach. Ken wanted to spend every minute he could with his kids and with Sara. His love and adoration of these four was unwavering and unconditional. He wanted to make sure that they knew the extent of his love for them, and that may have been his greatest success, because they all felt it and had no doubt how much they were loved.

Ken is survived by his partner Sara; his sons Tanner & Jalen and favorite daughter Achaia; mom Sharon Sigel and 6 loving siblings. Gone before him are his father Joseph Sigel, his Grandma and Grandpa Edwards and Grandma and Grandpa Sigel.

We are so sad that Covid has made it so we are not able to get everyone together to honor Ken and celebrate his life together.
