Kim Edgar Lynch, Jr.

Kim Lynch, Jr. left this world unexpectedly on June 4, 2021.  He was 40 years old.

Kim was born to Tina & Kim Lynch, Sr. in Sacramento, CA.  As a child he moved to Boise, Idaho where he was close to his grandparents, Preal & Janice Sanders. When his mom remarried, they moved to Asotin, WA where they lived throughout his school years.

In high school, Kim was what some would call a “Rule Breaker” or a “Class Clown”. He loved getting people’s attention and making them laugh which never changed. In his junior year, Kim met first wife, Misti. After learning that he was going to be a father he dropped out of high school, got his GED, and went to work. His daughter Dakota was born in 1998. A year later, Kim enlisted in the Army and served from 2000-2002. In 2001, his son Aidan was born. After his service in the Army, Kim returned home and resided briefly in the Seattle area where son, Ethan, was born in 2003. In 2005, Kim married Jessica. They moved from Waha to the Boise area where son, Kolton, was born in 2006. They moved back to the Palouse, and in 2007 his daughter, Lacie, was born.

It was at this time that Kim pursued his passion for music. He was well-known for his gritty voice and his song writing abilities. Around 2008 he founded a country band in Moscow, ID called Blue County Line in which he was the lead singer. The band had quite the following and put out one professionally mastered full-length album (Down the Dirt Road) and one EP of songs all written wholly by Kim or in collaboration with his band members. The band dissolved in 2010 but he had many more song ideas that he always intended to do something with. You could often catch him strumming his guitar and humming the tune of a new song idea. Kim enjoyed being a DJ at weddings and even worked briefly as a morning DJ at Bull Country 99.5 in Moscow. His gift and love for music was enjoyed by many and passed on to his children.

Kim met his wife, Nicole, in 2010 and they were married in 2012. Their daughter, Layla, joined the family in 2012 and daughter, Amber, followed in 2014. The family lived in Deary, ID for several years and spent the last 5 years of Kim’s life in Onaway, ID, where Kim served as mayor for one year. During this time, Kim worked briefly in the oilfields of North Dakota. He finally pursued his dream of owning his own trucking company and succeeded in establishing Lynch Transportation, LLC and working as his own boss. He hit the road as a hot-shot driver, hauling loads all around the country with a pickup and flatbed. Eventually he moved on to purchasing a semi-truck and hauling as an owner-operator for System Transport. He loved the open road and traveling the country and he was able to share those experiences with his co-driver and cousin, Melanie Tiner; son, Kolton; and daughter, Layla who will always cherish those memories.

Kim had a larger-than-life personality and lived to the fullest. His children were the light of his life and he was such a proud dad. He never knew a stranger; Kim could enter a crowd of people he’d never met and leave with many new friends. He was charismatic, gregarious, genuine and LOUD. One of his favorite things to do was get a huge bonfire going in the backyard, crack open some beers, crank his music and spend time with his family and friends. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed.

Kim is survived by his wife of 9 years, Nicole Lynch; His children Dakota (22) (Allen), Aidan (19), Ethan (18), Kolton (15), Lacie (14), Layla (8) & Amber (6) Lynch; Grandson Bridger Longstreet (9 months); Mother Tina o’ Hara (Debbie); Brothers Jeff (Danielle) Hayes, Brian Hayes, Jacob Hayes, & Lavar Hayes; Sisters Janice (Ben) Marshall, Tina Hayes, & Maggie (Joe) Fair; In-laws Jim & Lori Weatherford, and Craig & Joni Goins; Driving partner & cousin Melanie Tiner and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews and many friends.

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Kim Lynch, Sr. and his grandparents, Preal and Janice Sanders and William and Anita Lynch as well as several uncles.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Riverside Park in Potlatch this summer. Details will be announced at a later date.
