Stanley Dinnetz Obituary

Stanley Dinnetz of Mercer Island, WA passed away on June 29, 2021 at the age of 74. His passing was quick and painless, with his spouse by his side at home.

He is survived by Eve, his beloved spouse of 47 years, his children Eleanor and David, his grandchildren Erik and Emma, and his sisters Kathy and Sandy.

Stan was a lifelong resident of the Seattle area (and huge Seahawks fan) with a great love of the PNW and the outdoors. Much of his youth and adulthood were spent enjoying the outdoors, fishing, camping, exploring backroads (and often getting stuck), and wading through tide-pools with his family. Even when his knees no longer allowed for much of these activities he still enjoyed taking long drives up the mountain, to the shores, or to leaf peep on the way to Leavenworth.

He was an avid scuba diver and loved diving the waters around the Puget Sound in his younger days. After working for a short spell in marine research with NOAA while studying Marine Biology at the University of Washington, he was recruited into the WSDOT, where he worked 30 years until his retirement.

Those that knew him well knew him as a gentle giant with a goofy sense of humor and a golden voice, which he loved to share in his church choir at Mercer Island Congregational Church. He was an active member of the church and a firm believer.

He leaves behind many loved ones that will greatly miss his kind and quiet presence. But we know that he is at peace now and that we will see him again one day.

A celebration of life will be held outdoors at the CCMI woodland sanctuary he helped build on July 17th at Noon.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Congregational Church on Mercer Island, 4545 Island Crest Way, Mercer Island, WA  98040
