Catherine Mary (McIntyre) Scott

Although I was unable to attend Kathy‘s memorial on Friday, I went to the local Catholic Church in White Salmon (Saint Joseph’s), to light her candle and fondly remember moments I shared with her. The last time I saw Cathy was at my brother Jerry’s memorial service in Seattle at a Sacred Heart church. Just before we began the prayer of St. Francis, Cathy leaned toward my husband sitting next to her and said, “oh I love this prayer, it’s one of my favorites.” So I said this prayer with her in mind. Like my brother, she emulated this prayer.

I was living in a remote Inuit village when Cathy married my father. When I met her, she was so kind and gracious. I was very glad my dad found a lovely lady like her to enjoy the remaining years of his life. She is one of those wonderful women who give “stepmother” a good name. I am very grateful and honored to have been a small part of her life. May she Rest In Peace and Joy with those who have gone before us❤️

Some of my fondest,warmest and happiest memories of childhood have revolved around Katie. ( The Sextons from Maidstone never got the memo that she she had become Cathy! )Anticipation and excitement always ensued when we knew she was coming to visit at our farm. She bought me the first drumstick ice cream cone that I ever had after a trip by Greyhound to see a movie in Essex - a big event for us. We eagerly looked forward to her Christmas presents and I remember, in particular, one that I was very thrilled with - a double-holstered set of toy guns. Being loved by Katie was a great gift of life. Rest In Peace beloved cousin.
