M. Marcia Cihak

Mary Marcia Cihak, known as Marcia to all and Ammie to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed away from a stroke on September 28, 2017. Marcia left this life as she lived it, on her terms. She was organized, known as a problem solver and always in charge. Marcia could get things done!

She was born on September 11, 1933 in Hensel North Dakota. The family moved to Bremerton in 1942 where Marcia graduated from Bremerton High School in 1951. One of her great joys was reconnecting with the Bremerton HS group later in life where her class reunion committee still meets on a regular basis.

While attending college, Marcia met and married Gwyn Triplett and had two children, Brian and Lynn. Once the children were in school, Marcia began working for a small commercial contractor in Seattle, CBS Construction, as a bookkeeper. Always having a thirst for learning, Marcia became active in the National Association of Women In Construction or NAWIC. Through this professional association, she took construction related classes and grew professionally. After many years at CBS Construction, her career path led to positions at both McDonalds and Eddie Bauer as a project manager, opening stores across the country.

A new chapter began for Marcia 1980 when she married Richard Cihak and moved to West Seattle. This marriage not only brought international travel to her life, but also three step children she adored: Cindy (John) Kling, Diane (Tom) Wharton and David (Tammy) Cihak. From the beginning of the marriage, Marcia immediately expressed that she now had five children instead of two.

Always a planner, later in life she moved to The Kenney, where Marcia being the outgoing, social person she was, made many friends, especially in the maintenance department where she was known to project manage projects around the complex.

In addition to her children and their spouses, Marcia leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Marcia's life at The Kenney in West Seattle on Sunday, October 22 from 2:00-4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NAWIC (National Association of Women In Construction) Puget Sound Chapter #60 in honor of Marcia Cihak for a scholarship in Marcia's name so another young woman may enjoy the professional growth in construction that enriched Marcia's life. Checks can be payable to NFSF (NAWIC Founders' Scholarship Foundation), 14660 NE North Woodinville Way #200, Woodinville WA 98072
