Janet Darlene (Call) Wick

August 9, 1947 — August 15, 2020

Des Moines

Janet “Jan” Darlene Wick was born in Centralia, WA on August 9, 1947 to parents Anna and Lee Call. Jan grew up along-side her three siblings in Burien, WA where she attended school and graduated from Highline High School in 1965.

In 1966, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Dave. They lived in Des Moines, WA for their entire married life, often spending leisurely family time camping in remote areas of the wilderness of the Western U.S and at their property on the Washington coast. Together, they had children and raised their family for the next forty plus years until their divorce in 2007.

In 1972, Jan began working for The Boeing Company and was there through her retirement thirty years later in 2002. She spent much of her career in management as part of the Fabrication Division and retired from the Quality Assurance unit at the Auburn plant. Throughout her career, she was honored on many occasions for her diligent work.

Jan was an adventurous type of gal who enjoyed family, traveling, gardening, reading, playing card games, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. From hockey to baseball to softball to volleyball and whatever was in between, whether in person or from afar, Grandma was always their number one fan. Thank you, Grandma, for always being there! It truly meant the world to us.

On Saturday, August 15, 2020, Jan passed away peacefully in her home.

Jan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and is survived by her three children, daughter, Carron (Brent) Schmick of Gilbert, AZ; son Ron Wick (Michelle) also of Gilbert, AZ; and son, Mike Eveland (Cecile) of Anaheim, CA; her six grandchildren, Dakota Eveland, Jacob Schmick, Cayla Schmick, Kaitlyn Eveland, Jaret Wick and Alex Wick; and her siblings, brother, Howard Call, and sisters, Beverly Higgins and Bernita Keefer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Lee Call.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Jan’s honor to Home-Start.org, Wounded Warriors, or an abuse center of your choice.

Please share memories of Jan and condolences with her family on the Tribute Wall located above.
