John Charles Crawford
1947-2020
John was born on July 21, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. After graduating high school in Lombard, Illinois he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. There, he met his future bride, Irene Marie Kastner. They were married on June 28, 1968 and have been married for 51 years. They came to visit Irene's family in Seattle, Washington and he quickly fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. They decided to move back to Seattle in 1972 and have lived in Bothell, Washington for the last 44 years. John and Irene enjoyed raising their only child, Robin Simmons (Ryan) and were thrilled to welcome two grandchildren, Brandon Dean and Kendall Marie. Brandon and Kendall had a very special relationship with their "Papa" and they will miss him very much.
John made a career by working in the saw and tool industry and retired in 2010. He would spend his time attending his grandchildren's sports events and Sundays were spent watching Nascar races and The Seattle Seahawks. John had a wonderful sense of humor and always made anyone who he was around laugh. After battling a long illness, he peacefully passed away on January 5, 2020 at Veterans Hospital with his family by his side. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the VA hospital in Seattle and the Assured Home Health Services for all of their care, support and kindness during this difficult time.
