It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Arthur T. Kolios, who died on March 14th at the age of 59. Arthur was surrounded by his loving wife, Fannie, and his devoted children, Teddy and Alex, after a courageous fight against glioblastoma.
Arthur was the son of Theodore and the late Aphrodite (Dalianis) Kolios, and spent his childhood in Parsippany and Bernardsville, NJ. His curious and detail-oriented mind led him first to Amherst College and then to the New York University School of Law. He was a partner at Perkins Coie LLP for 17 years, specializing in public-private partnerships for developing energy and military housing projects.
Arthur was a world traveler who loved travelling with his family his whole life. He spoke Mandarin, French and Greek. He was also a passionate sports fan, following his hometown New York Yankees and New York Islanders. Through his father, Arthur also developed an enthusiasm for soccer, and adopted Manchester United as his team. His support for the club will live on through his boys.
He and Fannie met in 1990, while students at a Chinese language program at Middlebury College. They were married in 1995 and lived in New Jersey and the Bay Area before relocating to Seattle.
Arthur is survived by Fannie, Teddy and Alex; his father; stepmother, Martha; brother, John; sister, Daphne; niece, Cassandra; nephews, Scott, Jason and Samuel; and many other family members. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Efthalia Cairns. His legacy lives on through their love and the countless lives he touched with his humor, kindness, and generosity.
Services will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Seattle on Wednesday, March 26 at 11:00 am followed by committal at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle.
