Barbara Lamont

Longtime resident of, and familiar friendly face in Conyngham, Barbara LaMont passed away at age 89 in her home in West Seattle on the morning of Oct 17th of natural causes.

Barbara was born of Noah & Mabel Ashworth on December 25, 1932, in Dobbs Ferry, NY and grew up in Worcester MA. In 1954, she married Alan E. LaMont, Sr. and the couple moved to Pittsburgh, PA where they had three children, Mark, Marcy, and Alan. The family moved to Conyngham, PA in 1964, and Barbara resided in her Main Street home for 48 years. In 2012, Barbara ventured cross-country and moved to West Seattle, WA to live with her daughter, Marcy, and Marcy’s husband, Jeff who made a wonderful life for her there on the shores of Puget Sound.

Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hazleton. She served as a Deacon and the President of the Women’s Association for many years. Her great pleasure was to be a life member of the Historic Brainerd Church in Sybertsville, PA. She eagerly participated in responsible stewardship by being a guardian in protecting and caring for the longevity of her beloved church. Barbara loved outdoor activities - cross-country and downhill skiing, hiking, and touring the countryside. Barbara loved Christmas, live music, animals and treasured traveling and visiting with her family and close friends.

Barbara is survived by her three children Mark Alan LaMont and his wife Peggy Johansen of Monroe CT; Marcy R LaMont and her husband Jeff Skillman of West Seattle, WA; and Alan E LaMont, Jr and his husband William Leicht of Seattle, WA.

A service and celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on November 12 at 10 am at the Historic Brainerd Church in Sybertsville, PA, followed by the burial service at Conyngham Union Cemetery at 11 am.
