Benjamin Florendo (Bennie) Guib Jr.

June 29, 1953 — December 23, 2022

Bennie passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.  He was born and raised in Seattle to Benjamin Severino Guieb Sr and Adalor Ellen Quinn.  He was the baby of the family of three children.  He spent all his life in South Seattle attending Mercer Middle School and Franklin High School.

Bennie loved and was loved by his family, friends, and family pets. He was known for having a big loving heart, a fun spirit and a person who would be there to help anybody in need.  During his free time, his hobbies included: fishing, exploring Washington State for the perfect fishing holes, playing his guitar, listening to classical music, woodworking, watching movies, baking, fly tying, and reading the bible.  He loved to share his knowledge of life with his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews by showing them how to fish, complete handyman work, cook, and basic auto care. Bennie will truly be missed by all those who had the privilege to have had him in their lives.

Bennie was raised by parents who owned a hotel, restaurants, and a store. Growing up he learned how to be a handy man, a cook, and was a self-taught machine mechanic. He spent his adult life sharing his talents in his work.  He was a commercial fisherman who owned his own company and boat. Then worked for Ball Industries in Kent WA for over 20 years before retiring. In his later years, he enjoyed time in his Beacon Hill home and caring for his mother. During his last year of life, he spent time with his sister, Faye. They relived their younger years and laughed like teenagers.

Bennie was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Sr., and his mother, Adalor. He is survived by his beloved sisters, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and several cousins from all around the world.

Close family and friends are invited to celebrate Bennie's life on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, from 1pm--2:30pm at the Rainier Valley Church located at 6020 Beacon Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98108 (held in the Saint Mark's Lutheran Church).

In lieu of flowers, please keep the family in your thoughts.
