Bruno E. Krüms passed away April 13, 2021. He was a writer and photographer. He loved music, books, art, and Alki Beach. He was born May 2, 1937 in Riga, Latvia. His family fled Latvia in October of 1944, narrowly escaping the Russian army’s entrance into Riga. After WWII ended, the family spent 6 years in Displaced Persons camps throughout Germany in the zone controlled by the English. The family immigrated to the USA in March, 1951, and settled in Lincoln, Nebraska, where there was a growing Latvian immigrant community.

Bruno graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied English Literature and Philosophy. He married Ruta Tontegode in 1966 and when she graduated from the University of Nebraska, they left Lincoln and traveled extensively throughout the West. They settled in West Seattle in 1972, where they have resided since.

Bruno is preceded in death by his Parents, brother, Aivars, and his son, Imants.

He is survived by his wife, Ruta, son, Uldis, sister, Mara (Mike) Critchett, nephews, Erik and Matiss Smudze, Drake Krüms, and extended family in Lincoln, AZ, and Latvia. Bruno was dearly loved and will be missed by family and friends.
