Colleen C. Doherty

Colleen C. Doherty passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 25th, 2024 in Seattle Washington. She was born on October 24th 1931 in Los Angeles California to parents John and Clair (Brotherton) Doherty, and moved to the Seattle area at a young age. Colleen graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1950.

Affectionately known as Teenie to those who loved her, Colleen lived a life full of art, glamour, and passion. She was never one to pass up the opportunity to learn something new, and she always had time to watch just one more YouTube video or virtual museum tour in a quest to expand her knowledge of the world.

Colleen is survived by her three children, Michael (Andrea), Scott (Susan), and Gigi (Paul), and two granddaughters, Kellin and Riley, who absolutely adored her. She always made time to learn about what her granddaughters were up to, and was convinced they were going to change the world someday, with her help of course. As a young woman Colleen and her two sisters dabbled in the modeling world, and from that experience Colleen developed a sense of glamour and love of fashion, whether it be a hilariously big hat, her clip on earrings or her variety of floor length coats that she insisted were always on trend.

Taking up residence in the Alki Beach area, Colleen loved a walk on the beach to get inspiration for her own paintings and to take in the gorgeous views of Seattle and beyond. She lived her 93 years to the fullest and was constantly filled with a true zest for life and learning, which she has passed on to Kellin and Riley who she loved with everything she had.

She will be greatly missed and we know her memories will live on and fill us with peace and gratitude.
