Cynthia Mayer Pramuk
Cynthia Pramuk (Mayer), 78, formerly of Akron, passed away peacefully following a long-term illness on January 12, 2022, in Seattle, Washington.
Cynthia was a beautiful and kind woman who grew up in Akron, Ohio, graduated from Buchtel High School, and acquired a degree in English with a minor in Anthropology from Kent State University. She deeply admired the arts, especially music, poetry, and fine art. One of her proudest accomplishments was spending a year abroad in Mexico City in the 1960s, where she became fluent in Spanish. She elegantly balanced a demanding career with the challenges of being a single mother throughout most of her parenting life. In 1983, while working for Charles Mayer Studios, she accomplished registry of Akron’s downtown Post Office and Federal Building on the National Record of Historic Places. In the 1980s, Cynthia moved to the Bay Area in California with her daughters, when she pivoted to a career working for fast-paced Silicon Valley companies. She returned to Akron for several years in the mid-2000s and then moved to Seattle, Washington to live near her daughters. Cynthia was always kind to animals and loved her dogs, especially so. She was beloved by her friends and family and will be deeply missed.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother Jayne and father Charles Mayer, both life-long residents of Akron. She is survived by her daughters Christine Pramuk and Jennifer Pramuk and brothers Rory (Laura) Mayer of Uniontown and Jeff (Debbie) Mayer of Stow.
A private, virtual memorial service is planned for a future date.
