Elinor Ruth Roush

Our Beloved Mom, Ellie, Kiya. Born in Boulder, CO with many stops around the country and the world with her Engineer Father, Harold Lathrop. She became a stewardess, married Pilot Ted Wood and settled in the Seattle area to leave a very large footprint on all those who knew her.

In the 1970’s as a single mom she became an RN and then was part of the first graduating class of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners from the University of Washington. After graduating she joined the Puyallup Nation and helped create a first-class health care facility which included her beloved Pediatric Clinic where patients adoringly called her Dr. Ellie yet were always corrected.

During the time she was building her career she met and married Wayne Roush of the Burien area and they became the “Brady Bunch” with 8 kids total between them and then made a home in Maple Valley where they lived thereafter.

After 30 years and retirement Ellie enhanced her “2nd career” of betterment and enjoyment of the outdoors via gardening, hiking, loved long walks with her beloved dogs, and cross-country skiing with the Kent Senior Center. In 2012 she suffered a catastrophic stroke which left her determined to walk again.

Ellie loved family, reading, learning, yoga, meditation, cheering on the Seattle Mariners, and post stroke enjoyed dancing with TangoStride.

We really miss your beautiful smile, sparkling eyes, sense of humor, and keen insight. You inspired so many while on Earth and your legacy continues to carry on. Your husband, large blended family, and all your grandchildren and great-grandchildren were able to be with you in your final days and will always hold your memory in their hearts.
