Eugene "Gene" Arnold Cherin

September 26, 1927 — January 5, 2018

Seattle, Washington

Belove d Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather

Bor n into humble beginnings to Nell Arnoldo and Eugene Dorigo, Gene was raised and attended school in the Columbia City neighborhood of Seattle, Washington until his family moved to Santa Barbara, California at 16 years old, where he finished High School. Shortly after High School, at 25 years old, he joined the United States Army, and served our nation until he was honorably discharged in 1954.

He then moved to Bremerton, Washington with his dad, Cecil Elder, and his mom, Nell, to start the infamous Moulin Rouge restaurant in Downtown Bremerton. It was there that he met his first love, Marilyn “Jeanne” Satran, who already had two children of her own, Bob & Pat, from a former marriage. He loved her from the very beginning, and he told his Mom, “That is the girl I am going to marry”. As a good man of his word, he married Jeanne in 1955. Not too long after, they brought their first child together into the world, their daughter, Lela “Dee Dee”.

When Dee Dee was around a year old, Gene & his parents decided to sell their family’s restaurant, and Gene went to work at the Boeing company in Seattle, Washington. Gene & Jeanne bought their home together in Seattle, where they shared many fond memories together, including the birth of their last child, their son, Gregory, and that is where they all lived, laughed, and loved until Jeanne’s passing in 1979.

After 30 plus years of hard, honest work at Boeing, Gene retired at the age of 58 to spend more quality time with his Grandchildren, whom he loved most dearly and they loved him, just the same, right back. Gene loved to visit with his many relatives that he grew up with, and his new in-laws (lovingly referred to as, “Outlaws”, on our Mom’s side). In his spare time, he loved to garden, and play golf with his best friend, Ernie Heinze, and his cousin, Leon Ferrari, who also attended the “Italian Club” with him. Gene and his closest cousin, John Jury, loved working on cars growing up, and they both had PT Cruisers, which Dad loved sharing with his beloved dog, Zoe.

Gene was married to Linda Richardson of West Seattle, and they both enjoyed spending winters in Bullhead City, Arizona with relatives & friends.

On January 5th, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones in Burien, Washington, Gene left this earthly plane, and joined his father, Eugene, mother, Nell, first wife and mother of his four children, Jeanne, and his son, Pat, who all went before him.

He leaves his second wife, Linda, son, Bob, daughter, Dee Dee, son, Greg, five grandchildren, three (almost four) great-grandchildren, and many close relatives & friends to cherish his loving memory.

Gene is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
