1943 — 2024

Gail MacLean was born on February 17, 1943 in San Francisco, California to Ellen and Leslie Petersen.  She died January 8, 2024 in West Seattle at age 80.

One of 3 children, Gail grew up in Oakland, California attending Redwood Heights Elementary School and graduated from Oakland High School. As a child, Gail enjoyed spending time camping at Lake Tahoe with her parents and brother, Glenn Petersen, and sister, Diane Bittick.  After high school, Gail attended Holy Names University in Oakland where she played flute in the orchestra and graduated with a teaching degree. While in college, she met her husband, Hugh MacLean and they married in August 19, 1967. Gail worked as a teacher in elementary school grades one-three throughout her life.  Gail and Hugh lived in many locations around the country, starting their lives in Pleasant Hill, California, then moving to Apple Valley, California, Lenexa, Kansas, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Fort Worth, Texas, before retiring to Seattle, Washington.

Hugh and Gail enjoyed and kept busy raising two daughters:  Kathryn Newhall (Katie) and Amy McClure.  They were blessed with four grandsons:  Bridger and Dillon Newhall and Jack and Kyle McClure.  Also welcomed to the family were Nick Newhall and Jason McClure.

Her faith was important to her and was an active member of Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church as a child in Oakland, as well as many church communities in the other places where she lived.
