George Alvin Kinnison, Jr.
June 25th, 1960 - March 25th, 2026
George was born on June 25th, 1960 in Santa Clarita, California (known as Saugus at the time) to George and Nellie Kinnison. He died at the UW Medical Center - Montlake in Seattle, Washington at the age of 65.
He was one of six children: Marvin, Karen, (Charlotte) Darlene, George, Leslie and Norman Kinnison - in that order. All of whom survived him except Darlene who passed in 2017.
He is survived by his three children: Karen, Dan, and Kevin Kinnison.
George was always referred to by the family as ‘our angel’. He contracted spinal meningitis when he was 6 months old and the doctors told his parents he would not survive. He spent two months in the hospital, but he proved the medical community wrong! Not only did he survive, he did so with no disabilities.
George attended Central Linn High School in the class of 1978. He then married Amelia Daniels in October 1982 and they had one daughter and two sons. They spent some time in Alaska where his daughter was born, in 1985 - he spoke often of those times in Alaska as some of his favorite memories.
George was always displaying his enjoyable, dry sense of humor throughout his life. He loved comedy and was proud of his son, Daniel, who performed stand up for several years. George was even making the nurses in the hospital laugh till the very end.
George was an exceptional handyman and mechanic. Able to fix almost anything that needed fixing. His pride and joy was a 1970 Pontiac GTO which he bragged about often.
He married Barbara VanLandingham in January 2003, and became a step father to her 4 children: Krystal, Kris, (John) Travis, and Vona. They ran the Resort on the Siletz River in Oregon for a time and then settled in Depot Bay. He was extremely proud of the 40+ lb. salmon they caught on the river that they subsequently named ‘Delbert’.
George retired early with a back disability and was almost busier fixing things after he retired than before.
In 2023, George was delighted to attend his youngest son (Kevin’s) wedding and became a grandfather to 3 children: Kaiden, Alana, and Elise.
George was proud of all his children and was surrounded by family in his last days. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that will be greatly missed.
