Jane Scott, known by those who loved her best as “Scotti,” died after a short but devastating battle with lung disease at the Swedish First Hill Hospital on December 15th, 2021, in Seattle, WA at the age of 72.
Jane Scott is survived by her sons Nicholas Scott (Kristin Paystrup-Scott) of Seattle; Jesse Archinal-Scott of San Francisco; granddaughter, Samantha Scott of Seattle; her sister, Celeste Downey (William Downey) of Las Vegas; and two of her beloved dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents, Seymour Scott and Sylvia Scott of Beverly Hills; her grandson Maximilien Scott of Seattle; and many treasured furry dog friends that found better lives as a result of her care.
Jane Scott was born on March 11th, 1949, in New York City, NY, to Seymour and Sylvia Scott. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1966. She then attended UCLA, where she received her B.S. in Cultural Anthropology. She married Steven Archinal, in 1975. While Steven was attending Veterinary School at UC Davis, Scotti also pursued her doctoral degree at the same institution. After Steven’s graduation, they moved to San Rafael, CA, where they started a family. Along with their two sons, Jesse and Nicholas, they had a myriad of pets. Scotti and Steven divorced in 1998. Her children remember her as a committed and passionate mother who pushed them to pursue their goals.
Scotti was an avid lover of all animals, especially dogs. She never saw a puppy she didn’t have to meet. She was a witty and sharp individual who was passionate about human rights. She was an active member of the UCLA Alumni. She spent many years donating her time at the San Francisco Ballet. By those who knew her, she will be deeply missed. Her life-long passion for education and fire for human rights are an inspiration to all who loved her.
A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, January 22nd, 2022, over Zoom. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Scotti’s life. In lieu of flowers, please feel free send donations to any of the following organizations in her memory.
