Jeffrey Leonard Tazioli, a long-time resident of Burien, Washington, died Oct. 19, 2025. He was 75 years old.
Jeffrey (Jeff and Jeffie to many of his family and friends) was born May 25, 1950, in Seattle. The family lived in Seattle until the late 1950s when they moved to Burien. Jeff attended both Alki and Lake Burien elementary schools, then St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School In Seahurst. He was graduated from Seattle’s O’Dea High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1972. Jeff worked in manufacturing for the Boeing Co. nearly all of his career.
His passions in life were his family and friends, model cars, and, at the top of the list, thoroughbred horse racing. Jeff’s entire family had a history of work at Longacres racetrack in Renton, Washingtons, and Jeff kept up his love of horse racing all of his life. Through adulthood, Jeff, along with a group of his friends and a cousin, who called themselves the Track Scum, were regular attendees at Longacres and at Emerald Downs in Auburn. The cadre could tell you just about everything you needed to know about racing, including the biographies of jockeys and horses and a list of who won what when. Ask track regulars if they knew Jeff? Definitely.
And if Jeff wasn’t at the track in those days, you often could find him at what many called his homes-away-from-home, Angelo’s restaurants in Bellevue and Burien (started by the Ricci family, who became family friends). Angelo’s Burien opened as a delicatessen in 1957, soon became a bar and restaurant which is there to this day. Angelo’s is where Jeff met his wife Karly.
Jeff’s parents were Elizabeth Mary Frey Tazioli (Kansas City, MO) and Leonard Harold Tazioli (Seattle). Jeff’s sister Kai Leamer died in 2002. Jeff’s wife Karly died in 2009. Jeff is survived by his brother Terry (Seattle) and a cadre of cousins who live in Washington state and across the United States.
A memorial service for Jeff will be held Monday November 24, 2025 at 11:00am at Providence Mount St. Vincent Chapel, 4831 35th Ave SW in West Seattle.
Reception will follow at Angelo’s restaurant in Burien 601 SW 53rd St. Burien, WA
