Jerry L Dennis known to many as Bud, 75, died March 27, 2021 at home from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. He was born January 30, 1946 in Olympia WA , the son of Ernest E. Dennis and Irene Albertson Cook. Jerry graduated from Tumwater High School in 1964. Following graduation you would find Jerry in southern California picking oranges and surfing prior to joining the US Navy Seebees 1964 - 1968 for two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, he married Linda Mitchell and they settled in Seattle, WA. On the GI bill, he attended the University of Washington obtaining a BS degree from the business school in 1973. Their son, Jerad Dennis was born in 1975. In 1983, Jerry and Jerad joined Lynn Bennett in marriage and celebrated 37 years of marriage on May 2020.
Jerry’s career started in retail management and then he joined his in-laws Cliff and Della Moody as Vice President Operations of KMD Incorporated utilizing his expertise in strategic planning for logistics, fleet management, warehousing, personnel in the transportation industry. Jerry was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was privileged to be a member of Council and Treasurer.
He was preceded in death by Ernest E and Hazel Dennis and Irene and Richard Cook, parents, David Dennis, brother, Doug Woodside, stepbrother, Carol Woodside, stepsister and Joe Woodside, nephew.
Surviving is Lynn, his wife, Jerad, his son, wife Kimberly and daughter Brooklynn, Jerry's grandaughter known to him as Brooks. Also surviving is Roger Woodside, stepbrother, his wife Linda and son Dylan. Jerry was very proud of his nieces and nephews Paul, Chris, Cheri, and Tammy their spouses and children and their children. In addition, Lynn's family was Jerry's family.
A service of remembrance will be held 2pm, Sunday, April 18th at Zion Lutheran Church, 25105 132nd Ave SE, Kent WA 98042. Coffee and pastry will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service. During this pandemic, it is important that we remain vigilant so masks are required and attendance will be held at 50% capacity. Jerry was a lover of dogs. They were his best friends and Mr. Wiggins will miss him dearly.
