Jill Anne Oftebro – 02/05/52 – 11/10/25
Jill Anne Oftebro passed away November 10, 2025 @ 7:00AM. Born in Topeka, Kansas to John and Helen Kooiker and raised in Indianapolis, she earned her nursing degree at Indiana University (1973), guided by a deep desire to care for those in need. She continued her education and achieved her Nurse Anesthetist degree at the University of Michigan (1977).
Her sense of adventure and curiosity led her to travel to China with college friends, and soon after, she embraced an opportunity to serve others by accepting a nursing position in the Virgin Islands. Eventually, she followed her brother to the Pacific Northwest, where she brought her dedication and compassion to Valley Medical Center and the West Seattle Hospital before finding her long-term professional home with Group Health and then Kaiser Permanente. There, she devoted many meaningful years to the well-being of her patients and community until her retirement in 2013.
Alongside her devotion to nursing, she was a “fitness nut”. She spent many years teaching aerobics at the West Seattle YMCA, balancing classes with family and professional commitments, and ultimately grew an insatiable passion for yoga and Pilates. Over time, she worked diligently to become a certified instructor, an accomplishment that brought immense pride and fostered a renewed sense of purpose and identity that would stay with her for years.
Her greatest joy was found in family, her pets, and her nursing career. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, daughter Candice (Duncan), son Robbie (Katrina), granddaughter Layla, and brother John (Karen).
But above all else, Jill’s heart belonged to her family. She was deeply devoted to her husband, Jim, and took immense pride in Jim and the life they built together. As a mother to Candy and Robbie, she was steady, loving, and endlessly supportive - always showing up, always giving, and always putting her family first. She would have loved to be a part of her granddaughter, Layla’s life!
Each day, Jill lived with an open heart, welcoming everyone into her world with warmth, trust, and compassion. She was truly a shining light. Her presence made every day feel brighter, warmer, and filled with love. Her legacy of love, strength, and infectious laughter to her last day, will forever be cherished by all fortunate to have known her.
Remembrances can be made to Alzheimer’s Research or the charity of your choice. She will be deeply missed by all who shared her love.
