With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Joan Ruby Doll-Canady, who passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 93.
Joan was born in Dumont, Minnesota. She was the eleventh of 15 children, growing up in a large family that shaped her lifelong love of togetherness, resilience, and caring for others.
Joan had a true servant's heart. She began caring for others early in life, working with premature babies in a hospital in Minneapolis. She later continued that calling as a CNA at Seatoma Nursing Home, where she devoted herself to caring for those in need. For Joan, caring for others was not just a job — it was simply who she was. Whether through her steady presence, a warm meal, a listening ear, or her thoughtful advice, she made people feel safe, valued, and deeply loved.
She found joy in life's quieter, most meaningful moments. Joan loved country dancing at the Eagles, playing cards with her family, camping, fishing with her grandchildren, and enjoying picnics together. She especially treasured her trips back to Minnesota to visit family and reconnect with the place and people who meant so much to her.
Above all, Joan's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, beloved great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She created countless memories that will live on through the generations who loved her.
Joan is lovingly survived by her children, Debbie Gooder (Jim), Joseph Canady (Paula), Brenda Canady-Valbush (Howard), and Tony Canady (Dee Dee); her grandchildren, Andrew Canady (Amber), Tom Canady, Nick Canady, Amanda Canady, Megan Canady (Jake), Dylan Canady, Cash Canady, Michael Canady (Jamie), Jarryd Valbush (Jessica), and Bryce Valbush; her great-grandchildren, Caiden, Weston, Hazel, Rhett, Madeline, and Asher; her beloved brother, Tedd Doll, age 90; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Those who knew Joan will remember her for her gentle strength, unwavering love, selfless heart, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy is one of love in action — a reminder that the smallest acts of care often leave the greatest impact.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
