Joseph William Walike, Md

Joseph William Walike was the youngest of 7 children born to Anthony and Mamie Walike in Bath, NY on September 30, 1935. Having graduated top of his class from Savona Central School in 1953, he made his way to California at the urging of his oldest sister and brother. Santa Monica City College led to medical school at UCSF (1961), then to the prestigious Head and Neck Surgery program at UCLA, completing his residency in 1966. Two years in the army stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey took him back to the east coast closer to family. A position with the University of Washington Health Sciences Medical School followed. In 1973, The Mason Clinic recruited Joe to begin their first Facial Plastic Surgery Program, which led to starting his private practice dedicated to Facial Plastic Surgery in 1979. Dr. Walike opened the first in-office Surgery Center and supporting med-spa, both unheard of at the time. Dr. Walike donated his time and medical expertise to the Rainier School in Buckley, WA and to the Navajo Nation Indian Health Service in Gallup, NM. Joe retired in 1997. He could often be found golfing at Sahalee Country Club, wine tasting, and supporting his sons at their sporting events.

Dr. Walike is survived by his two loving sons, Anthony "AJ" (Jennifer) Walike and grandson Oliver, and Adam Walike; stepson Robby (Hannah) Coble and children Lucas and Mackenzie; former spouses: Barbara Hansen, and, mother of his children, Wendy Taylor; sister Caroline Zemak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and siblings: Helen Young, Edward Walike, Henry Walike, Bruce Walike, and George Walike.
