Joseph "Joe" Sonntag

Joseph "Joe" Sonntag was born on February 9, 1938 in Billings, MT, to Richard and Elizabeth Sonntag. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Sonntag and Jennifer Sipert, son-in-laws, Ian Menzie and Terence Sipert, grandson Tiago Sipert, siblings Louise Mehlert, Rich Sonntag, Linda Sonntag-Noble, Steve Sonntag, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Joe had a gentle, loving soul. He was happiest hiking, fishing, spending time in the mountains, and being with family and friends. He always had time to pet a cat or dog, loved Thai and Italian food, would read anything on the NY Times Bestseller list, and he drank root beer "like it's going out of style."
Joe spent his life fighting for the underdog, trying to make the world a better, more peaceful place. He detested war, most politicians, and anyone who took advantage of the poor and vulnerable.
Joe Sonntag, our father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and friend, was dearly loved by many people and is so deeply missed.
A private family memorial will be held in Idaho. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation to the MADRE organization, who Joe strongly supported. ( www.madre.org )
