Laura (Sattler) Beso

Laura Bešo was born and raised in Woodland Hills, California, the youngest of three daughters of Ronald and Martha Sattler.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

While studying, Laura also worked in Hollywood, at Universal Studios, as an assistant to a film director, and it was through her job that she met her future husband, Seattle-based Bosnian musician Amir Bešo.

After a two-year internship at Counseling West in Southern California, Laura moved to Seattle in 1995, where she became a Registered Counselor with the State of Washington, and subsequently received her license as a Washington State Marriage & Family Therapist.

Amir and Laura married in 1996.  Their son Michael was born in 2003.

Laura’s kindness, compassion and empathy were limitless, she loved helping people, and her private counseling practice in West Seattle was thriving.  She was also a gifted artist, her paintings are vibrant with color, filled with emotion, and imbued with her passion for life.

Laura passed away on October 7, 2020.

She is survived by her husband Amir, their son Michael, and her sisters Carol Simpson and Nancy Peardon.  Gone before her are her parents, Ronald and Martha Sattler.

A celebration of Laura’s life will be held in 2021.
