The Light of Our Lives

Michael Peter Cervino, Jr.

March 14, 1942 – January 14, 2026

Michael Peter Cervino, Jr. was born March 14, 1942 in Paterson, New Jersey to Michael Peter Cervino Sr. and Josephine Marie Occhipinti. He died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 14, 2026 in Seattle from complications due to multiple myeloma. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all. He was energetic, youthful, faith-filled and welcoming to everyone. He lit up a room and was often the life of a party.

Michael grew up in Paterson and relished sharing memories of times spent with his Italian relatives there. His family later moved to Cincinnati where he graduated from Xavier University in 1963 and met his wife, Bonnie Jeanne Pruden, whom he called “my bride” for 61 years. They married on January 23, 1965 in Cincinnati and moved to Salt Lake City the following year. Michael and Bonnie spent 50 years there raising their four children. He was an active member of St Catherine of Siena Newman Center and a founding partner in Cameron Construction Company, retiring in 2002. He and Bonnie loved to travel and took every opportunity to visit other countries. Of course, his favorite was Italy and he had the good fortune to visit the birth places of his grandparents and great grandparents.

In 2015, they moved to Seattle where Michael realized his dream of sailing in blue waters and loved every minute of it. He was an avid football and Seahawk fan, unabashedly yelling at the TV when things didn’t go the Seahawks’ way. In Seattle, Michael was known for his generosity of time and spirit. He could never say no to anyone and sometimes, you didn’t even have to ask. He loved volunteering for various organizations including his parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the West Seattle Food Bank.

Michael is survived by his wife and soul-mate Bonnie; children and spouses he was incredibly proud of: Michelle Scheving (Garry), Michael (Kindra Tully), Jon (Emily Aquino), Amy Corroon (Peter); grandchildren whom he adored, who lit up his life and called him “Boompa”: Mickey, Killian, Jacob, Matthew, Sophie, Peter, James, and Samantha; beloved sister Joan Feldkamp (Russ); and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews he considered not just relatives, but friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, March 14, 2026 at 2PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Seattle WA. Memorials can be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Outreach Ministry or West Seattle Food Bank.
