Michael Gezachew Yirgu

Michael Yirgu of Seattle, passed away on 9/22/2022 the day before his 50th birthday.

Michael Gezachew Yirgu was born on September 23, 1972 to parents Gezachew Yirgu and Weyzer Kebede in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After coming to America in his teenage years he worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his years. Michael was predeceased by his brother, Samson Gezachew Yirgu. Michael is survived by his two twin daughters, Kiara and Kioni Lloyd, his granddaughter Jalaya Pride , his niece Ruth Samson Gezachew and nephew Abemelek Samson Gezachew. Michael was recognized in the community as a very kind man who would help anyone that needed it.

Michael was admired and loved by many. His presence here on earth truly will be missed.

Michael will be laid to rest on 12/13/2022. The service will be held at 11:00 am at St. Gebriel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church Seattle. Proceeding he will then be buried at Holyrood Cemetary in Shoreline.
