Nancy Jean Elder

February 1, 1949 — October 20, 2021

Nancy Elder was born February 1, 1949 in Kelso, Washington. She was the only daughter of Edwin and Helen Scott, and lucky enough to have four younger brothers she could boss around. Nancy moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington after high school, where she married and adopted three children with her then husband of 44 years, Norman Elder.

Nancy (aka Nan, or Nanc) was an exceptional woman and mother figure. Aside from managing a branch of one of the largest banks in the nation, she was the popsicle lady, head of the PTA, super volunteer for various city sports leagues, and a soccer mom extraordinaire. She was beloved by her peers and those around her, and she played an integral part in her Seward Park/Rainier Valley community.

She was the heart of anything she belonged to. She looked after all the kids in her neighborhood, gave them a safe place to be, food in their tummies, smiles, acceptance, and peace.

Nancy loved to read about the world and to travel. Most recently she spent an amazing month walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain with her cousin Susan.

Nancy is survived by her 4 children, Michael, Kyra, Kenny and Trevor; her grandchildren Mo, Luka, Quentin, and Severyn, and; her brothers Mark, Philip, and Tim. She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Helen, her brother Ronald, her half Sister Diane, her niece Jeanna, and her baby grandson Owen.

She left quite the imprint on all of us - in being a mother, a friend, but most of all an amazing human being with a giant heart who always had your back. She made the world a better place. Her presence will be greatly missed.
