Norma Meyer Fahy

1941 — 2020

Norma Meyer Fahy, age 78, passed away from ovarian cancer.  Her children were with her when she died.  She was born May 26, 1941 in Buffalo, New York to Norbert Ferdinand Meyer and Clara Helen Meyer. She graduated from Daemen College and then moved to New York City where she traveled internationally as a flight attendant for TWA.  She later moved to Washington, DC where she raised her children as a very devoted and wonderful single mother.  She worked as a political appointee under the President Carter Administration and was an event planner for various not-for-profit organizations in Washington, DC.  She eventually retired to Seattle to be close to her daughter.

Norma was passionate and had a great sense of humor. Among the many things she loved were children, animals (particularly dogs and elephants), politics, jazz music, presents, gourmet cooking (and eating), gardening, jokes, traveling, vacations, and organization.

Norma is survived by Jazz (her dog and favorite creature ever); her son, Ryan Fahy (Carolyn Fahy), of Sydney, Australia; her daughter, Courtney Fahy (Aiden Byrne) (and new owners of Jazz), of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren, Rebecca and Matthew Fahy; and numerous friends.  She will be missed immensely.

Norma was grateful to the team of doctors (particularly Dr. Charles Drescher and Dr. Antonius Mulia) who helped her through her illness over the past few years. She did not want a service so her immediate family will have a private celebration of her life and will continue to celebrate her life with great memories and stories for many years to come.

Norma was one of a kind and will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made in her memory to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
