Obi's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Obinna Franklin Amobi at the early age of 38. Obinna, a beloved husband, father, and friend, was born on June 23, 1987, and departed from this world too soon on December 28, 2025.

Better known as Obi, he was a beacon of kindness, warmth, and patience. His demeanor was always calm and welcoming, making him a cherished friend within his community and a steady source of strength and love for his family. Obi was dedicated to his local community, as evidenced by his tireless efforts to develop affordable housing for hundreds of families. However, he considered becoming a father to his beloved sons his greatest accomplishment.

Leaving behind a legacy of inclusiveness, gratitude, faithfulness, and patience, Obi's impact will continue to resonate in the hearts of all those whose lives were graced by his presence. He is survived by his treasured wife, Crystal Lin Amobi, his three sons, Elijah (7), Samuel (5), and Jeremiah (3). Obi and Crystal's love story is one that will continue to inspire all who knew them. Obi also leaves behind his parents, Godwin Amobi and Celine Agbakwuru, his parents-in-law, David Lin and Anna Hsia, his sister, Chinyere Amobi (married to John Murillo III), and his brothers Ikechukwu Amobi (married to Crystal Amobi, with son Izuchukwu); and Ugochukwu Amobi (married to Lana Amobi, with sons Leonardo and Michelangelo). Obi is also survived by his brother-in-law, Eric Lin (married to Kelly LeVasseur), and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended relatives.

A Funeral service for Obi will be held on January 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Christ Our Hope Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue. Obi's life was a testament to faith, love, and family, and the celebration will reflect the same.

In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised to help Crystal and the boys. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of…. In times of grief, your generous contribution will provide much-needed support for them as they navigate life without their beloved Obi.

Obi's loss is felt deeply by all who knew him, and his memory will forever inspire us to live with kindness, love, patience, and gratitude.
