Richard Phillip Albers

October 25, 1971 — May 18, 2025

Seattle, Washington

Richard Phillip Albers, born October 25th, 1971 died at home in Seattle, WA on May 18th, 2025 at the age of 53 - after a seven-month battle with Glioblastoma.

Rich grew up in Cincinnati, OH alongside brothers Arnold and Michael - where he developed a love of soccer, made life-long friends, and began his adventurous life. His parents (Agnes and John Albers) fostered his devotion to hard work, self-worth, loyalty, and independence. Rich and his dad built a car when he was a Senior in High School and at 18, he hiked the Appalachian Trail - an experience that solidified his self-sufficiency, character, and absolute love of mountains, hiking, being outdoors and pushing himself. Upon returning from the AT, he attended the University of Cincinnati - later transferring to and graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Communications. His study of design, technology, and photography led to a career in creative work. He co-founded Core Five Creative soon after college and spread his entrepreneurial talent years later helping his wife Julie (Liveris) as she co-founded a company. Recently, he enjoyed working as the Senior Digital Experience Manager at YMCA of Greater Seattle. Rich was a dual citizen and so proud to pass his German heritage and dual citizenship along to his son.

Rich was a craftsman, builder, and artisan - a master of problem solving and figuring things out with an elegant solution. He could figure out how to do most anything on his own whether related to a car, sailboat, or home. Rich and his wife/project partner Julie built a life centered on family, faith, and adventure. Their life together began in Cincinnati and moved to Seattle in 2013 with five year old son Bryson. They took Bryson sailing at three months, camping at four months, skiing by two and a half, and backpacking at five - the latter of which became sacred time between father and son. Rich climbed Mt. Rainier in celebration of his 50th birthday and planned to climb many more mountains. His son Bryson, of whom he was immeasurably proud, plans to pursue these mountains in honor of his Dad who instilled the desire and fortitude to do so. Outside of family and work, Rich spent time playing competitive soccer with the Prost Soccer Team (playing in the under 40 league), being an avid soccer fan (Sounders!) cycling, running, helping neighbors and friends, and serving on the music ministry team at church.

The family resides in West Seattle where Rich built a community amongst his neighbors/friends, soccer brothers, and Hope Lutheran Church and School. Rich defined a chill personality - with an enduring passion for that which was most important to him. Rich is survived by his wife Julie, his son Bryson (age 18), his mom Agnes Albers, his brothers Arnold (Collin, Allyn), and Michael (Jennifer/wife, Jensen), Mother-in-law Michelle Liveris, and Brother-in-law JP Liveris (Kenia/wife, Aaliyah, Abraham, David). He was preceded in death by his father John Albers.

Rich will be remembered for his easy-going nature, adventurous spirit, quiet strength, individuality, and irreverence. His presence was steady and sure and the way he lived life will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Rich’s life will be celebrated in Cincinnati on Thursday, July 17th at St. Mary Hyde Park Church located at 2845 Erie Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45208 - 10am visitation, 10:30am remembrances, and 11am Mass. We will also celebrate him in Seattle on Friday, July 25th at 4pm at Hope Lutheran Church located at 4456 42nd Ave. SW, Seattle, WA 98136.. Both services will be followed by a gathering/celebration.
