Stuart Andrew Vogt, known to his family as Andy, died after a sudden illness June 30th. He was 38 years old.
Andy was born in Manassas, Virginia and raised in Virginia, Tennessee and Massachusetts. He was a 2000 graduate of Westfield High School in Westfield, MA and an Air Force veteran. At the time of his death, he worked for the the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Seattle.
He is predeceased by his mother, Georgia Winslow Vogt, both grandmothers and one grandfather. Andy is survived by his sister Lynne Vogt of Charlottesville, VA , his father Stuart Gregory Vogt of Westfield, MA and his grandfather Stuart Henry Vogt of Fairfax, VA. He also leaves behind family in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Massachusetts. That includes Linda Elgin, Ethan Elgin and Brian and Roz Gwozdz.
Andy was an avid hiker in both Shenandoah National Park and the Cascades. He had an eye for cheap cars and expensive computers. Another great passion of his was cooking. The family enjoyed his creations but didn't always react well to the kitchen's condition afterward. Once he dropped a colander of spaghetti in a silverware drawer.
Andy also had an apt appreciation for the absurd and was a fan of "Seinfeld", "The Simpsons" and "Top Gear".
If you can, have a laugh or a smile to honor him, or sing along to loud disco music with the car windows down in an old Kmart parking lot.
