Tom grew up in Seattle’s Georgetown and Beacon Hill neighborhoods--the third of ten children born to James and Gladys (Becker) Leahy. He raised three children together with Meredith, his first wife.
In his youth, he played baseball and soccer. As an adult, he enjoyed baseball, dirt biking, ping pong, and handball. Later, he found his passion in tennis, becoming very skilled and developing many meaningful relationships with fellow players. A mechanic by trade, Tom could fix anything! He was also very industrious, creative and inventive. After retiring from King County Metro, Tom took up fine woodworking and created beautiful furniture. He also made many exquisite small boxes throughout the years that he gifted to dear friends and to each woman in his family.
Tom and Janet, his second wife, visited France for fifteen consecutive years. They enjoyed the beautiful countryside of Burgundy and Alsace, the wonderful French people and, of course, the food!
Tom’s favorite moments involved spending time with people he loved, his large family, life-long friends, Janet’s family, and their “tennis family.”
Tom was predeceased by his parents; his son, Lucas; his siblings James, Gary, Judy and Michael. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Sill-Leahy; son, Tom Leahy (Debbie); daughter, Monica Kenny (Mike); his grandchildren, Christopher Leahy, Alicia Rincon (Matt), Jacob Kenny, and Kirsten Kenny; great-granchildren, Lucas Kenny, Layla Kenny, and Oliver Rincon. Also survived by siblings, Mary Cropley (Joel Cohn), Kathy Pearson (Dave), Ruth Gass (Jeff), Beth Leahy, and Robert Leahy (Linda); sister-in-law, Laurie Leahy (Frank Laine); sister-in-law, Jeri Leahy; brother-in-law, Vince Evans (Susan); special cousin, Terry Leahy (DeeDee); along with many nieces and nephews. He is also missed by his stepchildren: Jacob Sill (Britt McCombs), Rachel Carter (Brandon), and step-grandchildren: Margaret Sill, Jackson McFarlane, Harry Carter and Charlie Carter.
