Toni (Thies) Griffin

Toni passed from this life in the early morning of January 12 at Valley Medical Center with family by her side following complications from ongoing health issues. Toni was born to Matt and June Thies on July 29, 1943. She graduated from West Seattle High School and went on to attend Barnard College, the University of Utah, and, fulfilling a lifelong dream, completed her bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Washington State University in 2021.

In 1966 Toni married Paul Griffin. They had many wonderful adventures in their almost 59 years of marriage, living in Utah, Michigan, Ohio, Arkansas, Virginia, New York and Kennewick and Kent, Washington. Toni and Paul raised three wonderful children, Christina Kealy, Amanda Bedsaul and Andrew Griffin. While a homemaker for many years (but always keen to move on with her education), she qualified as a legal secretary and had her own small business in Richland. After her children were launched, she worked in several Seattle law firms. Toni was a lifelong learner, always keen to gather more knowledge through reading, study and travel. In addition, she enjoyed caring for numerous cats and dogs over the years, her garden and the homes she shared with Paul. Toni was not only a generous and caring mother, but also a beloved grandmother to six lovely human beings. She never missed a birthday!

Toni is survived by her husband, Paul Griffin, her children, Christina (Steve) Kealy, Amanda (Matt) Bedsaul, and Andrew (Lori) Griffin, her grandchildren Mark, John, David, Emily, Addison and Meredith, her brothers, Timothy Thies and Trevor (Sandra) Thies, her sister, Terilyn Koretsky, her sister-in-law, Ann Sowerby, and several nieces and nephews.

Toni will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Seattle Humane Society .

Her family rejoices that she is freed from suffering.
