Wayne Ervin Roush
10/10/1936-11/17/2024
Passed Away Peacefully, preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ellie, his parents Floyd and Edith, two of his siblings; Dwight, Phyllis and stepson Teddy, numerous other family and friends, survived by his brother Jim Roush, his first wife Shirley, their four children, Eric, Stacey, Paul and Stephanie, as well three of four step children, Pam, Cindy and Molly. This extremely large blended family of kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews and so on, including many more friends and extended family all will miss him greatly.
Wayne's true passion in life was service to the community, he started an automotive service and fuel station in Normandy Park, Washington in July of 1965, Wayne's Service Center was born, he sold Mobil Gasoline, hence the old name
"Wayne's Mobil" that many people remember. At that time the were six Service Stations selling Gasoline and Automotive Repair within 1000 feet of each other, he outlasted them all, by 1980 he was the only one left, standing proud.
His business served 100's of families multi-generationally with all of their families automotive needs, as well he employed numerous folks, over 100 employees over the span of the next 57 years who raised families in the neighborhood and even retired from working with a prideful feeling of having been part of Wayne's Team. Wayne also sponsored many local teams whether it be local Bowling Teams or The Little League Baseball Teams he was so proud to Sponsor for and since the beginning, infact rumor has it he was the Longest Running Little League Sponsor locally!! with Plaques and Trophies hanging in waiting rooms covering all the walls, dating back to the late 1960's.
In 1980, Wayne bought the two abandoned gas stations across First Avenue, the old "Flying A" Gas station and "Shell Gas Station" on the East Side of First Avenue directly across from John Knox Church, part of the previously mentioned competition, where he moved the business to, for the next 40+ years renovating the property and running the business, Wayne's Service Center and the Chevron Gas Station, until he sold 12/31/2021.
Thank You All, for your trust and support of Dad and his "Baby" Wayne's Service Center
