William B. Fleck

William Benjamin “Ben” Fleck, formerly of Falmouth, MA and Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away Saturday, August 27th at Providence Mount St. Vincent in West Seattle.

Ben was born on April 26, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA to Richard Fleck and Kathleen Clapper.  After graduating from Providence College in 1955, he served three years in the U.S. Army.

Ben was employed by Sandoz Pharmaceutical, was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed his private pilot’s license.  He was a communicant at St. Martin de Porres in Poughkeepsie, and St. Patrick in Falmouth, where he was a lector and was active in the Knights of Columbus, including being Grand Knight.  Ben devoted his time to many organizations including the American Cancer Society, reading to the blind, operating and training ham radio enthusiasts and volunteering for the annual Falmouth Road Race.

Ben is survived by his five daughters:  Mary Fleck and her husband James Brawley of Seattle, WA; Anne Ewalt of Lynwood, WA; Patricia Edwards and her husband Ralph of Marta, Italy; Nancy Stockman and her husband John of Rocky Hill, CT and Elizabeth Fleck of Seattle, WA; and three granddaughters:  Katherine Stockman, Elizabeth Stockman and Kathleen Brawley.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie Hey Fleck and his brother, Reverend Richard Fleck, O.P..

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay, MA, on September 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at Bourne National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
