David McGee Obituary

In the fair city of Rexburg, Idaho, under the watchful gaze of the ever-stretching heavens, David Ray McGee embarked upon life's grand stage on the fourteenth of March, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty-one. A soul of mirth and generosity, David, known to kin and comrade alike, hath made his final bow in the thriving metropolis of Seattle, Washington, on the twentieth of February, 2024, after a valiant battle with the unseen adversary, cancer.

David, whose laughter was the merriment of the heart, and whose hands were ever extended in amity and succor, was a man of simple pleasures and resounding spirit. In the tomes of memory, he is enshrined as brother to Mike, Vernon, and John McGee, and the late Richard McGee, as well as the beloved sibling to the late Sandra Dunlap and the cherished companion to Debbie McGee. His lineage, a tapestry woven with the threads of kinship and affection, shall miss his earthly presence, yet find solace in the legacy of his love.

Educated in the hallowed halls of his local high school, David's journey of learning was not confined to the clasp of books or the whisper of the scholarly wind. Nay, for he was a man of action and endeavor, whose craft was honed within the storied walls of Rainier Brewery. Therein, his hands and heart did toil, not solely for his own sustainment, but for the joy brought forth in the creation shared amongst brethren.

An angler of the Puget Sound and a conjurer of culinary delights, David found solace in the embrace of nature's bounty and the alchemy of the kitchen. His rod and reel were the instruments of his peace, his stove and pan the forge of his fellowship. With each catch and each dish, he wove a story of the earth's generosity, a tale to be shared at tables surrounded by the warmth of friends and family.

Described by those who held him dear as the embodiment of humor, the epitome of benevolence, and the essence of spirited life, David traversed the mortal coil with a lightness that belied the depth of his character. His jests were the spark of joy in the gloom, his giving nature a beacon for the weary, and his vivacious spirit the flag bearer of his soul's eternal youth.

Let it be known that the world hath been graced by the presence of David Ray McGee, and though his flame doth flicker no more in the realm of the living, the glow of his spirit shall cast a lasting illumination upon the hearts of those he touched. In the chronicles of time, his name shall be etched, not with the ink of sorrow, but with the gilded letters of the love he bestowed and the laughter he inspired.

Rest thee well, David, for thy life was a sonnet, thy deeds a play of worth, and thy memory a soliloquy of enduring affection. Thou art not gone, but merely retired behind the curtain of eternity, where we shall all, in time, rejoin thee in the grand theatre of the divine.
