Elliott Woodall Obituary

Captain Elliott Arnold "Woody" Woodall, USNR of Mountlake Terrace, WA took his final flight and passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, following a short illness, he was 88 years old.          

Arnold was born on August 29,1934 to the Reverend Gordon and Inez Woodall in Yakima WA. As a young man he grew up in Brush Prairie WA and Hood River Oregon where he enjoyed spending time outdoors riding horses and baling hay with his childhood friend Dick Sargent. After his junior year of high school the family relocated to Lake Stevens WA where Arnold led the 1951 Lake Stevens High School Vikings to a perfect 13-0 season as Captain of the football team. After graduation he went to Everett Jr College for 2 years then joined the Navy as a Naval Cadet and earned his wings. He served his country on active duty for 26 years.  

After retiring from the Navy, Arnold pursued a second career in law enforcement as the Public Information Officer with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office and Everett Police Department finally retiring in 1999. Arnold enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, boating, skiing, gardening and working in his shop.

In 1955 Arnold met the love of his life Darlene Sharron Nelson, they were married in 1961 and spent 62 loving years together and had 3 children: Lisa Calnan (Tim), Scott Woodall and Kim Simonsen (Andy). He loved his grandchildren: Glenn Calnan, Griffin Woodall, Olyvia Oostenbrug, Finn and Berit Simonsen. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Inez Woodall, sister Sandra Slocum and brother George Woodall. 

Arnold will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors on March 15, 2023 at 10AM, and his Memorial Service will follow on the same day at Edmonds Church of God, 8224 220th St SW, Edmonds, WA 98026 at 1PM.
