Eugene F. Kottas 95 of Seattle Washington formerly of Lewistown MT passed away with family and friends by his side at Mount ST Vincent assisted living in Seattle WA of natural causes July 1st 2023. Born March 5th 1928 in Denton MT to parents Frank and Sylvia (Hoge) Kottas, where he attended elementary school, his father was co-owner of the confectionery and paramount theatre. In 1941 the family moved on the divide east of Lewistown, where they farmed and ranched. He attended Saint Leos Catholic high school and graduated in 1946. He joined the navy during the Korean War. After his discharge he began working for the Ideal Cement Company in Seattle WA; retiring from there. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports especially the Seattle Seahawks and the University of Washington Huskys. He was a long time member of the F.O.E. And American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Mary Butler, and brother-in-law Duane (Buck) Butler, nephew Gary Butler. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Seattle, nephews Billy (Natalie) , and Tom (Karla) Butler of Hilger MT. and Peggy Butler of Lewistown MT. Cremation has taken place with burial at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
Gene was known by many for his intellect, humor, gardening of flowers, and kind heart. In Seattle, he was known as “Montana”.
Donations can be made to the Seattle Children’s Hospital in honor of Eugene.
