Karene Baskin Obituary

Karene Baskin, of Seattle, Washington, entered into eternity on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 from the comfort of her home. Karene was born on October 16, 1956 to Ollie & Mattie House, in Elkhart, Indiana. Karene graduated from Penn high school in Mishawaka, Indiana. She went on to work for The Kroger Company in Elkhart, where she served as the head baker for 20 years. In 2000, she moved to Seattle, Washington where she was employed by the King County Courthouse as security. Karene was an artist in many ways. She was an artist in the kitchen with her baking, the artistry in her cakes were amazing. She also displayed her love for the arts through home décor. Karene loved the Christmas season and would often decorate every inch of her home. Karene was an avid animal lover. She had a variety of animals. In one home she had a beautiful pond with dozens of Koi fish, and she leaves behind her beloved Doberman, Maxximus. Karene loved to travel, she took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. She spent many months with her daughter in Honolulu, Hawaii and her home in Osceola, Indiana.

          She loved spending time with her 11 grandchildren, Cambria and Gavin Miller, Chaz, Chase and Channing Bush, Nuja, Janajah, Kamarrion, Levi, Legend Promise Baskin. And cheering for her Pittsburg Steelers. Karene leaves to cherish in her memory two daughters, Medeshia Miller, her husband Glenn Miller, Racheal Bush, her husband, Coleman Shawn Bush, one son, Glenn Baskin Jr, one sister, Ameche House; a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Ollie and Mattie House, her brother, Ollie House Jr., and two sisters, Tajama and Callasie House.
