Born on January 2, 1931, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, Marilyn relocated with her family to the Pacific Northwest while in junior high and graduated from Charles Francis Adams High School in Clarkston, Washington in 1948. Upon graduating, Marilyn embarked upon a career in banking working at State Bank of Clarkston. In 1954, she relocated with her sister to San Diego, California, where she continued her career in banking. She moved back to the Northwest and Seattle in 1960 and worked at Seattle First Bank, eventually becoming the supervisor in the payroll department. In 1976, Marilyn began a new career in the retail grocery business, working at Safeway in customer service. In 1983, she began working at UFCW Local #1105 where she became the office manager. In 1992, she became a union rep and served as such until she retired in 2003. Outside of work, Marilyn loved music, movies, theater and was an avid sports fan. She loved her Mariners and Seahawks. She was a devoted mother who selflessly cared for her daughter, Susan, during Susan’s extended illness and untimely death in 2021.
