Odis Crumb Obituary

Mr. Odis Lee Crumb aka “Otis” son of the late Alf and Viney Crumb was born on October 4, 1929 in Eva, Louisiana. He unexpectedly departed this life on Monday, June 29th at the VA Hospital in Seattle, Washington at the age of 90.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Crumb, his first wife, Almarie Crumb; his parents, Alf and Viney Crumb; two sons, Henry D. Fowler, and Melford Crumb; three brothers, Jimmy Phillip Rufus Crumb, Emanuel Curtis Crumb Sr., and Allen David Crumb.  

Odis began working at Purvis Pontiac Company in Ferriday, Louisiana at the age of 14.  This company trained him to drive and repair cars.  At the age of 16, he “uped” his age and joined the United States Army, during World War II and earned an honorable discharge.  After he was discharged, he moved to Pontiac, Michigan and begin working for General Motors in Detroit.  He also worked at Wilson’s Foundry Automotive in Pontiac, Michigan, where he met and married his first wife, Almarie Wright. From this union five children were born.  He left Michigan and settled in Seattle, Washington where he began working at Boeing Airlines, as an Aircraft Mechanic.  After leaving Boeing Airlines, he opened his own Car Wash and Detail Shop and operated his own business until his retirement.  He loved Seattle and considered it to be his home.  Odis was a generous and loving person who only saw the good in everyone. 

His life will forever be cherished.  He leaves behind his second wife, Cynthia Crumb of Kent, Washington; his brother, Frank Crumb [Janis Crumb] of Stockton, California; three sisters: Mary Crumb of San Mateo, California, Lena Williams [Craig Williams] of Elk Grove, California and Lottie Crumb of San Mateo, California; his children, Viney Crumb of Oakland, California, Alf Crumb of Burien, Washington, Cynthia Marie Bumpous of Pontiac, Michigan, Betty Long of Pontiac, Michigan, Delphina Joe of Seattle, Washington, Venus Crumb of Los Angeles, California, Randy Stockdell of Seattle, Washington, Jolandia Jutte of Seattle, Washington, Tora Glover of Seattle, Washington, Tameka Glover of Seattle, Washington and Candy Wilson of Upland, California. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, and friends.
