It is with a heavy heart that we announce Ryan Blake Potter, 47, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on May 19, 2025, from heart disease, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, compassion, and enduring friendship. Born on June 3, 1977, in Seattle, Ryan was a vibrant presence in the lives of all who knew him, defined by his extreme empathy, sincerity, and sharp, witty humor. Ryan was the son of Mary Gustafson, Donald Potter, and bonus father Steven Ray.
Ryan was a talented multi-media artist who found joy in creating. An avid gamer and devoted fan of comics and anime, he built strong communities around the things he loved. But more than anything, Ryan will be remembered for his huge heart as well as his jovial nature. He was an empathetic soul who cared deeply for others and whose sincerity and compassion touched everyone he met.
Ryan's spirit will live on in the hearts of his parents and all of his family and friends. Ryan is survived by his fathers, and siblings, David, Renee, Melissa, and Stephanie whom will all miss his presence profoundly.
A Memorial will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 30th 2pm at St. John's Baptist Episcopal Church in West Seattle. We welcome all who wish to be in attendance. There will be a brief courtyard service where Ryan's remains will be laid to rest next to his Mother Mary, followed by a Reception inside to share memories and love amongst his family and friends.
